Chinook-Winds

Sponsor Spotlight: Chinook Winds Casino Resort

Chinook Winds Casino Resort, a 24 hour Las Vegas Style gaming, headline entertainment, oceanfront hotel, is sponsoring Caddies 4 Cure as a Royal Troon sponsor this year. With over 800 employees, Chinook Winds knows it’s important to have services at the ready for those in need. That is why they partner with organizations that benefit charities like Caddies 4 Cure. “All of the activities planned make for an entire weekend of fun and fundraising which is what Chinook Winds is all about. Giving back to the community and having fun doing it.” Chinook Winds is looking forward to seeing all of the celebrities because “they obviously see the value in supporting the cause.”

Chinook Winds Casino Resort is owned and operated by the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. Not only does the Casino take pride in giving back to the community but the Tribe is proud of its contributions through employment, monetary donations, and cooperative measure to the Siletz community, Lincoln County and the State of Oregon. “We love this event,” Chinook Winds said. “The golfers and vendors are all there for the same purpose which is to raise money for a worthwhile charity.”

Sponsor Spotlight: Kim’s Embroidery Inc.

Kim’s Embroidery Inc, or KEI, has been sponsoring Caddies 4 Cure since the very beginning and we are happy to welcome them back this year as a Pinehurst level sponsor. “Ryan came to us a few years ago asking if we’d like to help contribute to a new charity he was forming,” said Min Matsumoto of KEI.  “We immediately indicated that our services would always be there for such a worthy cause.  We believe in Caddies 4 Cure!” Min went on to say that while they haven’t been personally affected by MS or visits to Randall Children’s Hospital, it shouldn’t take direct impact to make an impact.

While A Night to Chip In is always fun, the Celebrity Golf tournament is usually the highlight of the event for them. “We look forward to meeting all the celebrities each year.  What a great group of people!  We also look forward to seeing all the volunteers that give so much of their time as well.”

Sullivan-and-Associates

Sponsor Spotlight: Sullivan & Associates of Oregon

We’d like to welcome Sullivan & Associates of Oregon to Caddies 4 Cure this year as a first time sponsor. Sullivan & Associates of Oregon are wholesale insurance brokers specializing in tough to place property insurance.  Company representative John Coleman hasn’t had a personal connection to MS, but one of his daughter’s good friends father passed away after a long haul with the disease. At the event this year John says he is “looking forward to a great weekend” as well as seeing Ken Griffey Jr. “I have one of his game-worn rookie jerseys signed by him and always followed his progress during his playing days.”

Green-Thumb

Sponsor Spotlight: Green Thumb Landscaping

This is Green Thumb Landscaping’s third year as a sponsor with Caddies 4 Cure. The company, which provides residential and commercial maintenance and landscape construction services, is supporting Caddies 4 Cure because it is “one of the few charities that the volunteers do not take a salary and the money goes to actual intended parties.” President Scott Friedman said he also likes that the charity is a grassroots effort that continues to grow every year.  ”We want to support that effort and have seen the good the money has done in the community. If money can help ease the pain for children and families going through terrible illness or fighting lifelong battles, it is the least we can do.  I have seen the impact of illness and significant medical issues on a family, what Caddies does really helps them.”

Scott’s favorite memory is playing golf with Terry Porter two years ago. “We all had terrible drives.  We got a good second shot but still were short of the green.  Terry hit driver off the deck and stuck it by the pin from about 300 out.”

This year he is looking forward to seeing Ken Griffey Jr. “It is fun to watch him swing the golf club at the range.  I watched him as a kid and his swing with the golf club is the same as the bat.  And I cannot figure out how he can hit a golf ball straight after playing baseball his whole life.  I played through high school and still struggle!”

Stimson-Lumber

Sponsor Spotlight: Stimson Lumber Co.

Stimson Lumber Co. is a longtime supporter of Caddies 4 Cure and is back this year as a Bandon level sponsor. Stimson has seven sawmills across the Northwest producing a variety of wood products for new home construction and the do-it-yourself market. Stimson Lumber Sales Manager Mark Mitchell says the company is very supportive of the two causes Caddies 4 Cure supports and doing what it can to give back to the community. Additionally, Mark’s son spent 2 months at Emanuel Children’s Hospital when he was born seven weeks premature. “This get-together has evolved into one of the premier charitable events in the entire Northwest,” he said. “It’s wonderful to be a part of it!”  Mark said his number one memory of previous events was playing golf with the Iceman, George Gervin. “I always love to re-connect with my man – the Iceman. Never know when you might need some finger-roll tips!”

Brody-Borlaug-Foundation

Sponsor Spotlight: The Brody Borlaug Foundation

The Brody Borlaug Foundation is back for its 2nd year sponsoring Caddies 4 Cure as a Bandon level sponsor. The Brody Borlaug Foundation was established in 2011 after Jeff and Tracy Borlaug lost their 3-year-old son, Brody, to a rare immune deficiency.  In both honoring and continuing Brody’s legacy, the Brody Borlaug Foundation has partnered with Doernbecher Children’s Hospital to establish an on-site Pediatric Immunology Program, which will support and enhance the Cancer, Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant programs by increasing its ability to diagnose and care for children with immune deficiency diseases. Jeff Borlaug said they support Caddies 4 Cure because it is a great cause with great people, and “we’re thankful they support our cause as well.” Brody was treated for several months at Emanuel Children’s Hospital in 2010 so they understand what parents of Emanuel’s young hospital patients go through. Jeff said his fondest memory of previous Caddies 4 Cure events was talking Ducks with Ken Griffey Jr. Thank you Brody Borlaug Foundation for your continued support of Caddies 4 Cure!

Wild-Bills-Casino

Sponsor Spotlight: Wild Bill’s Casino

Wild Bill’s Casino is coming back to Caddies 4 Cure for a third year, this year as a Reserve Sponsor. Wild Bill’s provides casino nights for company and private events and non-profit fundraisers, and provides our casino gaming at A Night to Chip In. Rick Walker with Wild Bill’s Casino said they support Caddies because “it is a great cause that supports a number of local charities.” Some of their favorite memories include witnessing the interaction between the celebrities and guests. Thank you Wild Bill’s Casino for your continued support and providing such a fun and exciting experience at A Night to Chip In!

Charlottes-Weddings

Sponsor Spotlight: Charlotte’s Weddings & More

Charlotte’s Weddings & More, a bridal shop that sells wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, mom’s gowns, flower dresses, prom dresses and accessories, is back for the second year as a Bandon level sponsor. Owner Krysta York said they are supporting Caddies 4 Cure because “Charlotte’s Weddings & More believes that it is important to give back to the community and we really respect what Caddies 4 Cure represents and all of the work that they do.” She said last year’s A Night to Chip In was a “very fun night” and they also had the opportunity to play golf with Alfonso Ribeiro who she said was “down to earth and really great.” While we are sad to be missing Alfonso at this year’s event, we are excited to have Charlotte’s Weddings & More back as a sponsor. Thank you for all your support!
