Caddies 4 Cure co-founder and co-director, Justin Marquart, oversees sponsorships and helps shape the overall direction of the organization.
Justin and co-founder Ryan DuChene created Caddies 4 Cure in 2002 as a way to raise money for two charities close to their hearts, Emanuel Children’s Hospital and The National MS Society. In 2002, the Marquart’s infant daughter, Ella Marie, was born with a severe congenital heart defect which required open heart surgery two days after birth. Justin recalls living, working and sleeping at the hospital during the entire month Ella was in ICU. Ella Marie passed away at one month of age. A portion of Caddies 4 Cure donations go to the The Ella Marie Marquart Fund, benefiting the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Emanuel Children’s Hospital.
Justin says he will never forget the philanthropic approach to medicine and family-centered care they received at Emanuel. It’s a philosophy that today inspires the vision for Caddies 4 Cure. “When you develop a philanthropic culture, giving becomes the fabric of our being, and a part of all that you do whether it’s related to family, work or play. We can all do our part to make our community a better place through time, treasures or talents.”
In addition to his role with Caddies 4 Cure, Emanuel Children’s Hospital and the National MS Society, Justin is associate director of development for Washington State University College of Business. He is also actively involved with Search Ministries.
Justin and wife Lisa have three sons, William (4), Jonathan (2) and Alexander (9 months).
About Caddies 4 Cure
Caddies 4 Cure was established in 2002 by Justin Marquart and Ryan DuChene. Friends for more than 20 years, Justin and Ryan founded Caddies 4 Cure as a way to raise money for two charities close to their hearts, the Oregon Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital. In 2001, Ryan’s wife, Marci, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Ryan and Marci have become very involved with the Oregon Chapter, National MS Society, and hope that their charitable efforts will one day lead to a cure. The Ella Marie Marquart Fund benefits the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Emanuel Children’s Hospital. The fund is in honor of Justin and Lisa Marquart’s daughter, who passed away at one month of age from a congenital heart defect.
